Operation: Dress-to-Skirt

I found this CUUUTE dress (you know it's cute when it has 3 U's) at a store today and had to get it. The only problem is that the top is totally inappropriate for my tastes. It's one of those things where you have to have a huge chest and small waist to fit into the thing properly, and even then, your stuff is hanging out everywhere and plus there is no back on it either. Not my thing.

BUT, I love the fabric and the design of the bottom half. It is loose and flowy and made in India. My three favorite things in a garment. :) SO I am going to try to turn this puppy into a skirt. Have no idea if it will work, but I had to try. This fabric reminds me of an April Cornell dress at 90% off the price, so it was a no-brainer that I would buy it and fix it to my liking.

I will post the results of this attempt at clothing alteration soon. There's no harm in trying, right? If all else fails, I will cut the fabric up and make myself a bag or something. Or make the chest part into a cone hat... LOL! You know me. :)

  1. I will be interested to see how it comes out! Or you could just wear a white cardigan over the top ;)
