Wallets and the Fabric Casket

It is wallet time again! I am back into making wallets. I go through phases-- you've probably noticed if you've been a Sweet Sparrow customer for any amount of time--because there's just so many different things I want to make!

I am bringing back the zip pocket wallets that I love so much. I stopped doing them after we moved last January because they are very time-consuming in the cutting and assembling department. But they are so worth it because a cute wallet is hard to find!

Here is a "tall" size wallet in the works. I feel like I am talking about a Starbucks drink...
Isn't this fabric fabulous? Different hues of purple in a medallion print. Yum. Sorry the photo coloring is so wonky. My camera does not like indoor pics.

I had to share this pic with you. This is the fabric casket--not to sound morbid--but it is where I keep my stash...and it looks like a coffin!
I keep fabric here and in 2 other places in my closet. I have a lot of fabric.

Here's my machine. Just took a pic because she is so pretty. I love her. =)

And one last pic of my scissor cup because these birds are so cute. They brighten up my sewing area and keep things neat!

The Basic Wallet :: An Overview

This is a really great design for a wallet if you are looking for something simple, lightweight, and easy to carry in your pocket or small handbag. It is a two-pocket design, with enough room to carry a smart phone in the larger pocket and your cards in the smaller front pouch. It would also fit an iPod or flip-phone (which I have because I am not with the 21st century...).

She comes in at 5" W x 3.75" H when closed, which is a nice basic-sized wallet. It is a touch bigger than my Zip Pocket Wallets. The Velcro closure makes it easy to open and close, and keeps your things secure.

Sometimes I add a decorative button for flair, but not always. ;)

A Renewed Vision

So I am back with a renewed vision for my shop, and it feels great! I am going to stick to making smaller stuff since that is all I seem to be able to handle time-wise and brain-wise ;). Plus, I am able to make more things when they are smaller items, and that is good for everybody. I want to make a ton of these zip pocket wallets (hear the ambition in my voice?) and have them be my main squeeze, so to speak, in my shop. It is good when I master one thing and then run with it in different colors and patterns, and then once I've exhausted that design, move on to something new. I am sure I will throw the occasional zipper pouch or tea wallet in there once in a while!

Here is my first pocket wallet to go in the shop. I am going to offer the buyer the option to have a wood bead zipper pull added to the interior zipper pocket for no extra charge. I think that would be nice and I would like that if it were me buying. It is always nice to have options. Also, the coin pouch is great, and I am so glad this design has it.

And here is a recent zipper pouch creation. I couldn't help myself! I love this fabric and think it is so fun for kids or adults. The other side has a fat green caterpillar on it! This is long enough to fit pens and pencils, or the usual things you like to carry around.

I want to make a few finishing touches to my photos and listings before I "publish" them to my shop. It is my goal to get one more of these wallets made in the next week. Praise God for the motivation He has given me to keep going with this and use the money I make to bless my family (and pay off debt).

A New Wallet Style

Sorry it's been so long! As my baby grows older and more active, I have less and less time for sewing. But that is okay! I will take it where I can get it, and enjoy my son, who is more important.

So the latest thing I have tried is this small flap wallet with a place for cards and coins. I have never included a coin purse in my wallets, so this is new for me. I really like it, though! I do use cash now that I am doing the envelope method (Dave Ramsey) and this is where I stick my change.

This is the first and only one I have made so far. The flap's velcro was not positioned right (although I DID follow directions!) so the velcro parts are not quite reaching each other correctly. But I can still use it and have been using it as a tester. I really like how compact it is and the fact that it is PRETTY! :) Love this fabric.

What do you think of this style? Would you want one of these? Just curious if it is worth making more.

Review of S.O.T.A.K. Two in One Pouch

I decided to try out a new bag pattern designer named, SotakCo , and I love her stuff. She is from the Netherlands and has a great eye for d...
